DIY I Heart My Hubby Shirt

When I was rolling around ideas in my head of what to get my friend Jade for her bridal shower I decided enough people would probably get her lingerie that I would go a different route.  Usually bridal showers are chalk full of the sexy stuff....hers was no different.  She will definitely have her pick of stuff for a while.

Funny thing though is I literally got NONE at my shower a few years back....and that's practically unheard of!  I dug up this picture to prove it.  Not a negligee in sight (I really just wanted excuse to say negligee)

Anyway....I settled on the idea of making her a "I <3 My Hubby Shirt"  I wore one that I had made for the after party on our wedding night and since I'm kind of a sucker for traditions and stuff it seemed appropriate the she have one too.  That's where this text came into play.....

The girl has big knockers.....I had to be sure

I really wanted hers to look very "I <3 NY" style so I bought a plain black shirt, iron letters, and heart patches. Someday I hope I'll have a cutting machine of some sort so I will be able to make my own stencils or cut out vinyl and do more intricate designs but until then iron ons are my go to

Voila

And then I thought I would leave it up to her.  She could either wear it as a regular old T shirt, OR.....she could go for a more cute, casual, sexy thang and wear it to bed with some matching red panties

There's options

And for the record....finding red underwear around Valentines Day is HELL!!  I thought it would be easier....I was wrong

Wardrobe Wednesday- Leopard Flats, Sheer White Blouse & Jeans

It's officially hot as balls already here in the grand old state of Arizona.  My air conditioning is already running....like alot....and it's giving me anxiety.

I am terrified for what summer has in store for me when it's February and already 88 degrees.  Uggh!

That means it's time for me to start wearing summer clothes....which usually means lots of tank tops and maxi dresses for me....but we have one serious problem.  My arms are still Winter fat.  Like zero muscle tone and actually fat too so tank tops are out of the question.  That means that if I'm going to wear sleeves that they need to be very light and airy to avoid sweat tacos....enter the sheer white top

White top: Ross
Jeans: Charlotte Russe  (Refuge)
Flats: Gifted..not sure
Leather earrings: One Little Belt

What do you think of those earrings? If you follow Wardrobe Wednesday at all you know that jewelry and accessorizing is one of my biggest weaknesses.  I never know how to finish and outfit.  I took the plunge and bought a few pairs of these leather earrings and I am already in love!! For a girl who has worn diamond studs for years on end dangling earrings is a huge step for.  But since these are leather they are super light and I don't even know I'm wearing them.  I even accidentally fell asleep wearing them and had no issues.  I love them and can't wait to wear my other pairs and hopefully become an earrings girl!

On another note...I wrote leopard flats but I think those are technically cheetah...right? Ahh who knows...who cares really?  I think it's just easier to say leopard so I'll just go with that. Maybe I need a trip to the zoo to refresh my animal print skills.  I'm pretty sure I call tortoise shell sunglasses leopard too.....whatevs yo!

AND LASTLY.....my husband told me I looked "very put together" in this outfit.  I'm trying to decide if that's boy for "old"  Thoughts ladies???  hahaha!

Happy Hump Day!

Bridal Bucket- Everything You Need to Survive Your Wedding Day

So one of my best friends for the last 10 years is getting married (yay!) and this past Saturday was her bridal shower

Last April I had made my friend Tanya a bridal emergency kit but never blogged about it

And I totally had to make one again because I love to put stuff together...baskets, stockings....I love all the crap!  It's my favorite.

This time I actually got a picture of everything I put in it.  The idea is that it has everything she needs for the night before and day of her wedding.  Even all the little "hopefully you won't need this.... but just in case" items all together in one place so she isn't having to take time to hunt for stuff and pack it all up.  Just grab the bucket and go.

*Wet wipes
*Anti puff eye mask
*Hair spray
*Deoderant
*Brush and comb
*Q Tips
*Sleeping pills
*Lint roller
*Manicure set
*Sewing kit
*First aid kit
*Facial massaging brush
*Loofah
*Thick hand cream
* A hand embroidered handkerchief
* Non slip pads for the bottoms of shoes
*Gel insoles
*Mouthwash
*Tic Tacs
*Tums
*Advil
*Chapstick
*Crackers (For when you know you need to eat but you're to nervous for a full meal)
*Tumbler cup
*Orange juice and mini vanilla vodkas- I had vanilla vodka and orange juice the morning of my wedding so I wanted t give them same to her
* Little zipper bags to put things in

The great part is that it's not just for the bride....it's for anyone in the bridal party.  Say the bride never needs the lint roller it but suddenly one of the groomsmen is hit with a lint emergency.  Never fear....just have someone run that lint roller over to the grooms suite and the crisis is averted.  Or if a bridesmaid has a hem coming undone....mini sewing kit to the rescue! The goal of the bucket is to make the day run smoother for everyone.

Since I love a theme I tried to buy things in the wedding colors whenever possible....but grey and yellow proved to be much harder than I thought it would be.  The purple and yellow basket was pretty easy.  I couldn't even find the same yellow basket I had used before so I ended up just buying a yellow Easter bucket and glued on some grey chip board letters I had and called it the Bridal Bucket

Here's the beautiful bride with her loot

I hope it comes in handy.  At least I know the booze will be put to use ;)

MoMo Monday- MoMo's Breaking My Heart

Does anybody else out there have serious separation anxiety about leaving their pet everyday?

Mo really knows how to lay it on thick.  She follows us around from room to room as we're getting ready perching herself as she looks up at us with those sad and confused eyes.  I mean come on....look at that face!  It's so sad and pathetic you can't help but feel terrible.  And that's just the regular day to day guilt....she about killed me the other day when she took it to a whole new level.

The Boy and I were leaving for work at the same time...a VERY rare occurrence in our household.  We both gave her a pat and kiss on the head and told her to have a good day and be a good girl....you know....the normal everyday going out the door routine.

Once I actually got to my car though I realized I had forgotten my lunch and The Boy figured if I was going back in already that he would grab some headphones too.  With him a few steps behind me I unlocked the door and started to walk in.  All I could say was "Ooooooh, ooooooh!!"  "What What?" The Boy said because he thought something serious was wrong....and then he walked in and saw what I saw.

Our cute little baby sat there staring at the front door just a few steps away.  It broke my little heart.  Just minutes before when we left she was in the kitchen.  That means she walked all the way over to just to sit and stare at the door sadly wondering when we would come back.  Breaks my freakin heart just thinking about it!  I wonder how often she does it and how many hours a day she spends waiting for us to walk in (that is between naps of course.)

I felt even worse because she looked so excited to see us again....like she really thought those 2 minutes of us going to our cars was it for the day and we were back to spend the rest of our day cuddled up to her on the couch.  I kissed her about 30 more times before I finally had to leave again

Lord help me when we have human children.  I just can't take it!  I need to quit my job and become a stay at home cat mom.  This leaving her nonsense isn't working for me anymore

Wardrobe Wednesday- Casual Valentines Day Outfit

I'm not ready for this 80 degree weather that's headed my way this weekend.  I'm just not!  My arms aren't in shape enough for sleeveless shirts yet (but I'm doing chaturangas daily to try and get there!) I've only been back in tanning mode for 2 weeks so I'm still pasty, and I don't want to stop wearing my cute wintery  (well.....AZ wintery) clothes!

I've fallen deeply in love with scarfs and jackets/blazers and this damn state I live in is not cooperating....like at all.  Seems this past weekend was the last opportunity to wear a scarf and long sleeve without chancing heat stroke.  Faerwell my friends...I'll see you again in November. :(

But for the rest of you that aren't looking at 82 degrees this Valentines Day....here's an outfit for you.  A more casual take on the valentines date outfit

White shirt:Target
Jeans: Ross
Scarf: Walmart
Heels: Steve Madden

Just a little tid bit o' info for ya.  Those pink heels are from my 8th grade graduation outfit.  Had them for over 10 years but they have probably only been outside the house maybe 5 times all together.  Most of their mileage came from my clomping around the kitchen as a teenager wishing I had the guts to actually wear them.

They are that pair of shoes that no matter how little I wore them I have refused to donate or sell all these years.  Now that I am finally somewhat "styling" myself I hope I'll wear them more.  I know I would have regretted getting rid of them if I had

Oh....and meet my seesters French Bulldog named Phoebe.  She wanted in on the photo shoot and was in the majority of the pictures.  I didn't crop her out of that one because she is looking at the camera so perfectly! Such a little model

Hope you all are having a great week and Happy Valentines Day! =)

Dollar Store Valentines Day Decor

So it's 10:30 Tuesday night and Valentines Day is Friday.  That means that me posting about Valentines Day decor is borderline ridiculous.  Actually.....I don't think it even qualifies as borderline anymore....I think it is just full fledged redic....but I'm gonna post it anyway.  There's always next year right?

I love to decorate for the holidays but I can't stomach spending alot of money on it.  Mostly because I'm cheap but also because I like A LOT of decorations and doing it on the cheap means I get to buy more.  My collection is slowly growing.  My Valentines decoration box was kind of lacking so I hit up the dollar stores and added this to the mix

That is just a 5x7 frame painted pink.  I used glitter heart table scatter and hot glued it to some pink chevron print scrapbook paper I had and called it a day.  I found the pink vases at 99c Only and I love them so so much!  I love how basic they are so I can use them for so many different things.  It's hard to see in the picture but it has a great milk glass look to it.  Just throw in some themed picks or flowers and you have a very easy pop of holiday festiveness.

Lastly, I found this cute double heart frame at 99c Only too.  I debated just putting pictures of me and The Boy in it but decided that was too obvious and boring.  Soooo....I got in touch with my tweener days and made a Valentines themed collage.

I don't know about you but I was allllll about collages from ages 12-15.  Every single binder of mine was a collage, the cork board in my room, even my first recipe box was covered in magazine cut outs.  Cute boys, food, music,....anything "me"  I think it's just at that age where you feel like you want to define yourself and all your likes in a collage for everyone to see is the best way to do it.....plus we always had an excess of magazines.  (I don't know.....there's my psychological take on it for ya.)

I put them all together just for the pictures sake but spread around the house it gives a nice amount of holiday cheery without punching you in the face

Combined with my Valentines Day Pillow

And my wreath

This house is really feeling the love

MoMo Monday- Cat Bearding

If you're a cat person....or even just on the internet from time to time I'm sure you've had to have come across cat bearding.  It's a craze these days.

And it's pretty funny.  I laugh every time

MoMo isn't one to completely follow a trend.  She likes to put her own twist on things.

This is her version of a cat beard

She's really hope it catches on

Shrimp Salad Cucumber Cups

My sister was having a casual get together at her house a few weekends ago to watch the UFC fight.  Which means a night of the men in the living room actually watching the fight and the women huddled around in the dining room talking about Pinterest and my sisters upcoming wedding.

I wanted to bring something low carb that everyone could eat and not feel like I was bringing diet food....ya know?  I had a bunch of cucumbers in my veggie drawer that were at the use em or lose em stage.  Why on earth I felt the need to buy like 10 on my last grocery trip I'll never know.

And I was craving shrimp.....so the shrimp salad cucumber cup was born.  Not that it hadn't been born somewhere else before....just that particular day I felt very inspired so I'm claiming it as mine...k?

I bought a bag of frozen precooked shrimp (You can use raw and cook them yourself but I was on a time crunch) thawed them under water and diced small.  I added diced red onion, red bell pepper, celery, cilantro, a sprinkle of garlic powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

Looks yummy right?

And just to bind it all together...I added a touch of mayo

Now it's time to make your cucumber cups.

Cut your cucumbers in chunks of however tall you want your cups to me.  I made mine kind of tall thinking I wanted them to hold more salad but I think next time I'll cut them shorter and just have more cups over all.

Then, using a melon baller or spoon scoop out some of the seeds but DO NOT go through all the way to the bottom or your filling will all fall out

And.....FILL!!

Forewarning.....they juice like crazy when you take a bite.  Eat them with a plate

Shrimp Salad Cucumber Cups

12 oz. cooked shrimp, diced
2 red bell peppers, diced
1/2 red onion, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
1/2 bunch of cilantro minced
Juice of 1-2 lemons depending on how lemony you like things (2 for me please!)
1 tsp. garlic powder
Salt & Pepper
1/4 C. Mayo
Cucumbers (number of them depends on how big you make your cups.  I would have at least 5)

Mix the shrimp, bell pepper, red onion, celery, and cilantro in a bowl.  Add your seasonings, lemon juice and mayo adjusting to your own taste.

Cut the cucumber in chunks and hollow out using a spoon or melon baller being sure not to poke through the bottom so your "Cup" stays in tact and the salad won't fall out.  Fill the cups with the shrimp salad, garnish if desired, and serve

Wardrobe Wednesday- Seattle Seahawks Inspired Outfit

So let me start off by saying I'm not one of those football girls.  Not at all.  In fact I only like football season for the food.  It usually means more get togethers with my family than usual which means more girl time.....and again.....good food!

When it comes to backing a team for a Superbowl I usually just go with whoever The Boy is rooting for, but this year he really didn't care much.

Superbowl was being held at my sister Kinsey and her fiance Brian's house this year.  He is from Seattle and a diehard Seahawks fan.  I text my sister and offered to bring some leftover blue and green streamers and party decorations I had from a Star Wars party.....I love a theme!  Really I do!  a theme can get me excited about most anything....even things I could really care less about like football.  So I figured if the shindig was being held at a Seahawk househould, and being decorated blue and green.....why not decorate myself blue and green too?

It was the perfect excuses for me to buy myself this cute green and white scarf

Scarf: Walmart
Shirt: Ross
Jeans: Charlotte Russe Refuge
Sandal: Walmart

This was also the very first time I ever got my hair up semi decently into one of those donut bun things thanks to my sister Bree.  I didn't bring enough bobby pins and it started falling out about 5 minutes after these pictures.  I have A LOT of hair.

Maybe next year I'll wear this shirt for Superbowl....seems right up my alley
