DIY Bling Pet Collar

A few weeks ago it was my MoMo's birthday

You can see the festivities Here

I decided to make her a special occasion collar in honor of the big day

It was super easy and all came together in 20 minutes the night before her birthday (I'm the queen on procrastination)

I bought a plain pink collar from the dollar store and attached gems and pearls with hot glue

Trying to get a cat to model for you can be a little tough.   She insisted on taking a shower in the middle of the photo shoot.  And not a simple lick the paw, rub the head kind of bath.  No no.  It was the head between the legs kind

This was the best I could get

Here's a side view of her wearing it during her birthday dinner

Now she has a fancy going out collar.  Not that she goes out or anything....but if she did she would be preparedd

DIY Felt Pet Ornaments

Don't forget about the furbabies this Christmas.....after all they are family members too!

Every year I try to give them something small and last year I made them felt ornaments that looked like them

Meet Mimi, my oldest sisters dog

She's a Brenchie.  That's  "Frenchie" for anyone outside my family who speaks proper english. (My family has its own language largely based  on incorrect pronunciations by all the children of the family).

And this is her in felt form

Next up is Wrigley, my second oldest sisters dog

Ain't she just the cutest damn thing you've ever seen?   And she has THE cutest bark in the world.....I'm not sure it will translate well via Bloggin but I will give it a try.

It goes a little something like this :

Bow wow woo woooOO wooOO!

It's so stinkin cute I find myself mimicking it just for fun.  I'm glad my husband is weird like me and doesn't mind me barking randomly

 And here is her ornament

And this is Phoebe. Also known as "Beebee" or "Beebers"  If you're thinking she looks familiar it's because she is Mimi's sister.  Yep....sisters have sister dogs.

Even though they are sisters they couldn't be more different!  Mimi is more serious and Phoebe is that weird goofy girl you can't quite figure out.   Her lip is constantly getting caught on her teeth so we have dubbed this her "Ugly Elvis" look.  So it only seemed appropriate to pay homage to her goofy ass face

Now here comes the auntie guilt.  This sister also has a yorkie named Morty.  (Full name Mortimer Jasper)  I tried about 3 different times to make an ornament of him but was never happy with it so I threw it away and he never got one.  Now I feel bad.  Maybe I'll take another crack at it this year.

But just so he gets the spotlight too, here are some pics of the man himself (the only male pet in the family)

He's soo cute in his xmas sweater!  Love that dog!

And last but CERTAINLY not least is my baby.  The only cat in our clan

The beautiful, the magnificent.... Mo Mo!

(look at her...a little blogger too.  Mama is so proud!)

When I unpacked it this year I noticed she lost a whisker.  I choose to believe it was for realistic effect.  After all, she does lose them in real life.  And whenever she does I pretend they are a quill pen and wish I could use them to sign the Constitution.   Is that weird?

So there ya have it...cute, easy, cheap, and personalized gifts for all the pets in your life.  Ok..so  maybe it's more for the owners...but who cares!

And they are just as easy as they look.  I  made templates out of paper, cut them out of felt, sewed them together, stuffed them a wee bit, and added the details. I used E6000 glue to glue on the eyes and noses etc, but you could use whatever glue you think works best.

Add some thread to hang them and they are done!  Super easy...you could whip out a few in these last few days before Christmas and wow the crowds!

Your furry four legged friends will be so happy you remembered them! ;)

Incorporating Your Pet Into Your Wedding

Meet Mo Mo

Mo Mo is the love of my life....next to my husband of course....but she did come first.  In fact when we were newly dating he used to get jealous and say I gave her more attention.  Then he moved in and discovered the love that is Mo.  Can't blame him really....he'd never had a pet before so he didn't know the love of a child.

Now they are two peas in a pod.

Considering how in love we both are with her, it would seem wrong to not have her included in our big day.  Like I said in a previous post, in my delusional dream world she would have jingled down the aisle as a flower girl.  But you know that phrase about herding cats?  Yep.... that phrase exists for a reason.  Homegirl can't be told what to do!  She do what she want!

Years ago I tried to train her to walk on a leash but she would just lay down.  So I tried following the directions that said to just hook the leash on and let them walk freely or lay and sleep with it on just to get them gradually used to it without you holding the other end.   Well that didn't work out either.  Mo  is a mostly indoor cat.  She goes outside to go to the bathroom and sun herself for a few minutes and then comes inside.  Somehow within the span of an hour she lost the crap out of that leash!  I searched EVERYWHERE!  It was hot pink and glittery ....not exactly discreet.  I searched the entire backyard and up and down the street.  She's no dummy....she made sure that thing would never be found.  Mo Mo had spoken.

Anyways, so her walking down the aisle was not an option but she still needed to be represented.  So here are the things that I came up with

On my bouquet I had a little silver kitty charm (and a cupcake....but that's another story)  We also had a little stuffed kitty that looked like her.  I had one of my flower girls carry her down the aisle

I painted a little ceramic bobble head that we hid on a table of decorations as you walked into the reception

Also hidden amongst the candy buffet

A picture frame on the bar

And a Mo Mo mask that I made for the photo props basket

I missed her so much that when Tim and I ran home to change really quick before the after party the first thing I did was run in and kiss her.  Hubby snapped this picture of us.

What can I say?  I guess we're crazy cat people

Phineas and Ferb Party Games

Building "Inators" and Contraptions

We collected random odds and ends from home and work like bubble wrap, soup cans, toilet paper rolls etc.  We spray painted some of them grey and blue just to make them a little more interesting. We also got googly eyes, pip cleaners, pop poms, colored foam, duct tape, and glue.  We let the kids have at it and just let them do whatever they wanted.

  Having fun building

You're Sooo Busted!

As you probably know, Candace is always telling her crazy brothers " You're soooo busted!"  The original idea of this game was that each kid would have one minute to try to "bust" as many balloons as possible by sitting on them while everyone watched.  That didn't quite work out as planned.  Before the directions could even be given they were already all running around popping them.  Either way the kids had a ton of fun so it didn't even matter.

Where's Perry?

I don't have any pictures of this game but it's pretty self explanatory.  The kids took turns being the one to hide a small stuffed Perry and the rest of the group looked.  They played this game FOREVER which was nice and gave us time to get the food all ready.

Coloring Books

My older niece Katie was in charge of printing out pictures of Phineas and Ferb for coloring books.  Just put them all together with a ring.  I had little cellophane bags of crayons leftover from my wedding that I just switched out  the ribbon to match.  It was nice because they served as an activity and favor all in one

'
This was the last thing we did after presents and cake.  It was a good wind down activity as the parents showed up to take them home.
