MoMo Monday- Daddy's Girl

I don't know about you, but there's nothing in this world cuter to me than a little girl and her father.  I love being out in public and seeing a big macho man holding the hand of his littler girl and her dolly in the other.

A daddy's girl relationship just melts my little heart into a big pile of mush.  Maybe because I never had that relationship myelf....who knows....but it always puts a smile on my face when I see it

She may be "Only a cat" to other people....but if you've followed my blog at all you know that MoMo truely is our child.  And I would definitely say that Mo is a daddy' girl

It's actually kind of funny because when The Boy and I first started dating....he was actually a smidge jealous of her.  We spent most of our early dating days at his house, so when he finally started to come over to my house he saw how much time, attention, and energy I put into Mo.  He even made the comment once that when he came over all I did was pay attention to Mo instead of him.

His tone changed rather quickly though because he soon fell in love with her himself and got it.  He now knew the love that is the Mo and why I was so obsessed with her.  Now he's just as obsessed with her as I am and they are two peas in a pod and I love it

Here's a picture of them from the earlier days

So cute!

Recently MoMo's health issues have been front and center (I will be writing all about it in a future blog post) which has resulted in a number of trips to the vet.  I think it throws people for a loop when a big burly man at 6'2 240lbs walks in.....and he's carrying an 8lb kitty cat haha!!

I absolutely LOVE these pictures that I snapped of the two of them in the exam room

He loves his baby and she sure loves her daddy.  I love my little family

Happy {MoMo} Monday!

MoMo Monday- Fathers Day Gift

MoMo has just been soooo busy lately.  Between the naps, playing with string, snoozing, and eating.....she just didn't have time to shop for a Fathers Day gift last weekend.  She's a busy feline.

So we celebrated Fathers Day a week late.  Here she is giving her daddy his gift

Close up......

Not bad for not having thumbs huh?

And in case you wanted to make one yourself here's how

*Clean a mug (I got mine from the dollar store) with rubbing alcohol
*Decorate with paint pens NOT Sharpie (using Sharpie is a common Pinterest fail)
*Let cure for a few days
*Place in a cold oven
*Bring to 375 degrees and bake for 30 minutes
*Turn off oven and let mug cool in the oven

So easy even a cat can do it!

Happy {MoMo} Monday!

MoMo vs. The Fly

With the summer heat already here in AZ we have had an influx of flies. I hate flies!  Especially when I have spend an hour of my time trying to kill them after I get home from work.

MoMo is usually completely uninterested while I go on my killing rampage.  In fact....she is generally asleep throughout the entire process. That is until the other night.....

I found her sitting under the kitchen table staring at a dead fly.  Just staring.  I called her name and her focus could not be broken

(Sorry for the blurry photo, it was dark and I had to take it far away and zoom in so that she wouldn't move if  I got any closer)

The even funnier part is that she kept lowering her head to look at it even closer

This fly had her completely baffled.  Or maybe she's just surprised to finally see something smaller than herself.  Either way her amazement with it was adorable

MoMo Monday- Easter

As I've mentioned in a previous post.....there is no shortage of nicknames for my furry child

She's MoMo, Mo, DaMo, Doms, Turkey, Little love, Bubbies, and last but not least.....Bunny (which also becomes Buns for short)

Why Bunny you ask?

Because of her out of control cute bunny feet

See......

They're so dang cute that even when she's rude and sticks them in my face I can't help but kiss them

And it was the feet that started it all....but every once and a while she takes on those bunny ears too.  Maybe she was a bunny in a past life?

So from my bunny to yours....we wish you a belated Happy Easter!

MoMo Monday- Soak Up The Sun

MoMo is now an indoor cat but it wasn't always that way.  It was more of a gradual progression to get her to that point.

She first showed up at my house as a stray.  She spent pretty much all her time outdoors and I would have to sit outside to brush her nappy fur and play with her.  Then, slowly she made her way in for a few minutes at a time....she's the cautious type

We got a doggy door and then she started spending even more time inside since she didn't have to have us there to let her in anymore and she could come and go as she pleased.  That quickly brought her from a 50/50 indoor outdoor cat to her spending most of her time inside and just letting herself out the doggy door a few times a day for some sun.   That's how she rolled for a few years up until a year ago when she had to have surgery.

Because of the surgery she couldn't be allowed outside while she healed so the cover went over the doggy door and it hasn't been taken off since.  I decided that with her age and the health problems she had been having that it was time to make the old lady settle down and put an end to her outside partying ways.

Overall she adjusted to becoming a full time indoor cat pretty well.  I think at first she felt so crappy from her surgery anyway she didn't really care and then before you knew it was summer and she has no interest in staying outside when its 112.  Ain't nobody want to be out in that!

But Fall and Spring are another story....that's when the weather is nice here in AZ and she wants in on some of that.  Sunning herself in my craft room window is no longer good enough....she craves the outdoors

It's this time of year that she sneaks out the door anytime we are taking out the garbage or bringing in the groceries.....opens the door with her little paw and scoots right on out

It's so funny to me because she seems to always find the spot right where the shade ends and sunshine begins...like she can't wait to go any further so she plops down at the first spot of sun she sees

See how she's right on the shade line? lol

And then she rolls....and rolls....and rolls

MoMo just loves soaking up those rays.....check out the video

And then after about 15 minutes.....she's ready to be an indoor cat again.  It's that damn Mohair suit she insists on wearing all the time...so hot!

 Get it....Mohair??  Merp!

The Boy didn't know that Mohair is a real thing.....my joke was lost on him :(

Happy MoMo Monday!

MoMo Monday- Vacation

I'm starting to get REALLY anxious and sad about leaving MoMo behind while we go on vacation.  Yes, I know she's a cat and yes I know we don't leave until June.....but hear me out

Usually when we go on vacation I'll of course miss her....but she always has her Nana to stay with her so at least I'm not at all worried about her.  My mom takes great pride in being the pet sitter for me and all my sisters.  It's not uncommon for her to watch animals twice in one month between all of us.....she loves her furry grandbabies!

The problem this time is that literally EVERYONE will be gone on the same trip since it's for my sisters wedding...of course including our built in pet sitter.  My sisters are all having to book hotels that allow dogs....but that just isn't even an option for Miss MoMo.  Car rides stress her out soooo bad and I know ultimately it would just be bad for her health with her history and age.  I just can't do that to her.

So she's being left at home and we will be having friends check in on her....makes me feel bad!  She's way more attached to people than most cats are.  She can totally fend for herself if need be....but she loves attention like a dog so I'm sure this will be a long week for her...and me.

This of course is coming from the couple who call the house and leave her messages on the answering machine to say hi.....yep....we totally do!  My mom would play them for her and her little ears would perk up.  We're pathetic.....but I embrace it completely

And it doesn't help either that when we are packing up she gets so sad.  The second she sees a suitcase or a bag com out of the closet and set down in the living room (my packing area of choice) she freaks out and gives me this sad face

She just sits there and watches you pack....its the most heartbreaking thing ever!  Then she usually plops down on my suitcase in protest

Waaaaaaah!

MoMo Monday- A Classy Broad

Ya know what I want to  know?

I want to know how MoMo turned out so damn classy.  I mean look at her....

A classic beauty.  Like the Audrey Hepburn of cats.

She crosses her paws neatly too. So lady like

I have to remind myself to keep my legs closed in a skirt. I curse like a a sailor and I talk openly about allllll bodily functions

She definitely didn't get that natural classiness from me

Yea.....definitely not

MoMo Monday- MoMo's Breaking My Heart

Does anybody else out there have serious separation anxiety about leaving their pet everyday?

Mo really knows how to lay it on thick.  She follows us around from room to room as we're getting ready perching herself as she looks up at us with those sad and confused eyes.  I mean come on....look at that face!  It's so sad and pathetic you can't help but feel terrible.  And that's just the regular day to day guilt....she about killed me the other day when she took it to a whole new level.

The Boy and I were leaving for work at the same time...a VERY rare occurrence in our household.  We both gave her a pat and kiss on the head and told her to have a good day and be a good girl....you know....the normal everyday going out the door routine.

Once I actually got to my car though I realized I had forgotten my lunch and The Boy figured if I was going back in already that he would grab some headphones too.  With him a few steps behind me I unlocked the door and started to walk in.  All I could say was "Ooooooh, ooooooh!!"  "What What?" The Boy said because he thought something serious was wrong....and then he walked in and saw what I saw.

Our cute little baby sat there staring at the front door just a few steps away.  It broke my little heart.  Just minutes before when we left she was in the kitchen.  That means she walked all the way over to just to sit and stare at the door sadly wondering when we would come back.  Breaks my freakin heart just thinking about it!  I wonder how often she does it and how many hours a day she spends waiting for us to walk in (that is between naps of course.)

I felt even worse because she looked so excited to see us again....like she really thought those 2 minutes of us going to our cars was it for the day and we were back to spend the rest of our day cuddled up to her on the couch.  I kissed her about 30 more times before I finally had to leave again

Lord help me when we have human children.  I just can't take it!  I need to quit my job and become a stay at home cat mom.  This leaving her nonsense isn't working for me anymore

MoMo Monday- Cat Bearding

If you're a cat person....or even just on the internet from time to time I'm sure you've had to have come across cat bearding.  It's a craze these days.

And it's pretty funny.  I laugh every time

MoMo isn't one to completely follow a trend.  She likes to put her own twist on things.

This is her version of a cat beard

She's really hope it catches on

MoMo Monday- All Doped Up

Last March MoMo had to have surgery to remove a uteran stump.  That whole debacle is another story for another day...today is about her post surgery loopiness

When we finally found a vet willing to move forward with the surgery it was considered sort of emergency.  Not like she was going to die tomorrow emergency...but enough that they were willing to do it that day without being prescheduled.

Now because of it's "emergency" status she had her surgery very late in the day.  Like she came out of surgery around 6:30 pm and I was there to pick her up at 7:30pm.  The normal protocol for surgeries is that you drop off your pet right at opening, they generally perform all of them mid morning to early afternoon, then they hold your pet all day and you pick them up at close.

The reason they do it this way is so that your pet has plenty of time to "come down" off their anesthesia and other meds.  They warned me that since she didn't get her time to let everything wear off that she might be kinda crazy.  I had no idea what I was in for

At first I thought it would be a good idea to just leave her in her carrier for a while and let her sleep.  After all, that's exactly how it would have gone down in the vets office.  Within in 10 minutes of being home though she got all prison inmate crazy on me.  She was banging her little head on the bars of the carrier. She even started biting the bars! I was so afraid she was going to knock herself out that I opened up the door

Here's the video of that

As you can see, she was seeing something that the rest of us weren't lol

A few minutes later I took this video of her trying to move around a little more.  Her back legs weren't cooperating too well

It was after this video that things got REALLY bad.  She finally got herself up a little to walk but she would lose control but have so much momentum going that she was literally slipping and sliding all over the damn place and slamming into walls.  I couldn't even keep up with her. It was crazy how quickly she would get up and then lose control and go flying across the room before I could even get to her. Homegirl was high as a kite! I was so afraid she would break something or pop a stitch that I had to take drastic measures....a padded cell

I needed to keep her confined to a small area that she could walk around in but not hurt herself.  So I grabbed all the pillows and blankets and made her a padded cell...errrr...fort.  Yea, fort sounds better!

This was how it started out.  Just a few minutes into it though she was still trying to scale the pillow walls and get out so I had to add even more to deter her

The rest of the night was just me and her in our little fort with me pulling her down off the pillows every five seconds and petting her constantly for about 3 hours until she finally calmed down

Word to the wise....if at all possible don't ever bring your furry child home immediately after surgery.  It sucks.

My poor little doped up baby!

MoMo Monday- Wheezy

I always feel so guilty when MoMo gets a serious wheezy hairball.  It's sort of sad to watch but hilarious at the same time so I'm always laughing at her....bad mommy!

Her head gets all flat and smooshy, her ears go back all Yoda style and it sound like she's saying "Pooo......Poooooo"

Poor love.  But it makes for good entertainment

MoMo Monday-Time Out

So MoMo has recently started a new thing in our morning routine. She had always pawed her way into the bathroom to be with me while I get ready.  Usually she just sat on the floor or toilet seat just starring up at me.

Now she comes in, meows a bit, rubs my leg with her face, begs for a few scratches.....then makes her way over to the corner and just sits.  Yep....she just sits there, nose in the corner.  It's as if she's putting herself in time out

Imma thinking she must have a guilty conscious about something she did.  What did you do MoMo???

MoMo Monday- 21st Century Digital Cat

It's no secret that we as a society are hopelessly plugged in.

Between checking Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.  To watching hours of Youtube videos, making your way through every TV series on Netflix, and falling asleep with your Iphone in hand because instead of reading before bed you lulled yourself to sleep pinning on Pinterest.

These days six year olds own Ipods that are just a step away from being actual phones.  They know how to text, search the web, and facetime.  When I was their age I was playing Load Runner on the computer and got excited over my bubble gum beeper.....times are a changin.

I think this book that parodies both the book "Good Night Moon" and our ridiculously tech filled lives is hilarious.  Even funnier to me is that it says the author is "Ann Droyd."   Get it?  Android?  Bahahahaha!  I love it

I'm totally guilty of this too though with my own child.  Even if she is a furry.  She loves to play games on the Ipad.  I downloaded an App made by Friskies that is a game where fish swim in and out of the water for them to paw at

MoMo loves it!

What can I say....she's a 21st Century Digital Cat

MoMo Monday- Merry Late Christmas and Happy New Year

MoMo had a wonderful Christmas.  She must have been a very good girl because Santa Paws was very generous this year.  She spent all of Christmas morning playing with her new loot and got herself all tuckered out.  She had to take a rest in the middle of her toys

Later on she even got a cool crinkle tent from her auntie, uncle, and cousin.  This is her first official house that isn't just a cardboard box of some kind

Now moving onto New Years.  MoMo has set a few resolutions

1.  Throw up less.  And if I do have to throw up at least aim for a wipeable surface.  Mommy hates that

2. Take more naps.  I really should be getting more rest

3. Try to cost mom and dad less than $1,600 in vet bills in 2014

4. Keep at least half my litter in the box when I go potty.  Mommy hates that too

Ok, so maybe I gave her a few suggestions for that list.  But why can't her resolutions help everyone out...right?
