Wardrobe Wednesday- Plaid Rain boots Outfit

I'll be the first to admit that this isn't the cutest outfit I've ever put together.  It was more so just an excuses to wear my rain boots.   I hadn't worn them a single time in over two year since I bought them.  And the original reason I bought them was to wear them as makeshift snow boots.  Snow boots are super expensive and hideous....at least rain boots are cheaper and have cute designs. I just wore these with thermal socks and it worked out just fine.

Fast forward 2 years later and it actually rained here in AZ for like two day straight! Say whaaaat?  SO I excitedly put on my boots when I saw how gloomy and wet it was outside.  Sadly though, by the time I actually left the house to run errands and then go to birthday party it was already dried up and then I just looked like that crazy overzealous lady in the rain boots.  Oh well.....I've been worse

DIY American Girl Doll Sunshade

I'm back from a 2 week blogging hiatus.  Life has been crazy hectic lately and actually the last 2 weeks have been a little more mellow than they had been...but I still felt like I needed a time out from something.  Sadly, I wish that time out could have been from something else...like my 9-5, or cleaning, or cooking because I would love nothing more than to blog all day.  But life must go on so blogging went on the back burner.

But I'm back and ready to share some projects with you!

I don't know about you but my nieces LOVE American Girl dolls.  I always love them as a kid and would day dream about having my own while I flipped through the catalog but I never had the chance to own one myself.  You could say that my nieces dolls are just as fun for me as they are for them.  It's like I'm a kid all over again!  For Christmas I made all kinds of accessories for them and I will gradually sharing them all with you.

First up are the sunshades I made for their jeeps.

At work we got in a huge case of Turduckens for our big Holiday Meal that we put on for the whole hospital.  They came in frozen wrapped in this insulated bubble wrap type packaging.

Can you spot the Momo?

As soon as I  saw it I screamed ..Sunshade!!!  It was perfect!

I had my sister send me the measurements for the doll jeep and I created a template that size with rounded edges and traced it onto the material. You will need two of these to create your sunshade since it is only reflective on one side

Cut them out and then take electrical tape that has been folded over onto itself to be thinner and not sticky and hot glue it onto the edge of one of the pieces.  Do another for the other side as these will be your tie strings for your shade.

Using plenty of hot glue sandwich the two pieces together.  Using electrical tape again, fold the tape as neatly in half all the way around the outside edge of your shade.  This will hold it together even better and give it the realistic piping edge look of a real shade

You're all done!

At first I thought I would need velcro or something to hold it in place on the windshield since it obviously doesn't have visors like a real car to hold it in place.  Luckily though the windshield has a slight lip and it pops in nicely and holds in place

If you can't get your hands on material like this for free like I did you could always buy a sunshade for cheap at the dollar store.  You will get a few of them out of just $1 spent.

MoMo Monday- A Classy Broad

Ya know what I want to  know?

I want to know how MoMo turned out so damn classy.  I mean look at her....

A classic beauty.  Like the Audrey Hepburn of cats.

She crosses her paws neatly too. So lady like

I have to remind myself to keep my legs closed in a skirt. I curse like a a sailor and I talk openly about allllll bodily functions

She definitely didn't get that natural classiness from me

Yea.....definitely not

DIY I Heart My Hubby Shirt

When I was rolling around ideas in my head of what to get my friend Jade for her bridal shower I decided enough people would probably get her lingerie that I would go a different route.  Usually bridal showers are chalk full of the sexy stuff....hers was no different.  She will definitely have her pick of stuff for a while.

Funny thing though is I literally got NONE at my shower a few years back....and that's practically unheard of!  I dug up this picture to prove it.  Not a negligee in sight (I really just wanted excuse to say negligee)

Anyway....I settled on the idea of making her a "I <3 My Hubby Shirt"  I wore one that I had made for the after party on our wedding night and since I'm kind of a sucker for traditions and stuff it seemed appropriate the she have one too.  That's where this text came into play.....

The girl has big knockers.....I had to be sure

I really wanted hers to look very "I <3 NY" style so I bought a plain black shirt, iron letters, and heart patches. Someday I hope I'll have a cutting machine of some sort so I will be able to make my own stencils or cut out vinyl and do more intricate designs but until then iron ons are my go to

Voila

And then I thought I would leave it up to her.  She could either wear it as a regular old T shirt, OR.....she could go for a more cute, casual, sexy thang and wear it to bed with some matching red panties

There's options

And for the record....finding red underwear around Valentines Day is HELL!!  I thought it would be easier....I was wrong

Wardrobe Wednesday- Leopard Flats, Sheer White Blouse & Jeans

It's officially hot as balls already here in the grand old state of Arizona.  My air conditioning is already running....like alot....and it's giving me anxiety.

I am terrified for what summer has in store for me when it's February and already 88 degrees.  Uggh!

That means it's time for me to start wearing summer clothes....which usually means lots of tank tops and maxi dresses for me....but we have one serious problem.  My arms are still Winter fat.  Like zero muscle tone and actually fat too so tank tops are out of the question.  That means that if I'm going to wear sleeves that they need to be very light and airy to avoid sweat tacos....enter the sheer white top

White top: Ross
Jeans: Charlotte Russe  (Refuge)
Flats: Gifted..not sure
Leather earrings: One Little Belt

What do you think of those earrings? If you follow Wardrobe Wednesday at all you know that jewelry and accessorizing is one of my biggest weaknesses.  I never know how to finish and outfit.  I took the plunge and bought a few pairs of these leather earrings and I am already in love!! For a girl who has worn diamond studs for years on end dangling earrings is a huge step for.  But since these are leather they are super light and I don't even know I'm wearing them.  I even accidentally fell asleep wearing them and had no issues.  I love them and can't wait to wear my other pairs and hopefully become an earrings girl!

On another note...I wrote leopard flats but I think those are technically cheetah...right? Ahh who knows...who cares really?  I think it's just easier to say leopard so I'll just go with that. Maybe I need a trip to the zoo to refresh my animal print skills.  I'm pretty sure I call tortoise shell sunglasses leopard too.....whatevs yo!

AND LASTLY.....my husband told me I looked "very put together" in this outfit.  I'm trying to decide if that's boy for "old"  Thoughts ladies???  hahaha!

Happy Hump Day!

Bridal Bucket- Everything You Need to Survive Your Wedding Day

So one of my best friends for the last 10 years is getting married (yay!) and this past Saturday was her bridal shower

Last April I had made my friend Tanya a bridal emergency kit but never blogged about it

And I totally had to make one again because I love to put stuff together...baskets, stockings....I love all the crap!  It's my favorite.

This time I actually got a picture of everything I put in it.  The idea is that it has everything she needs for the night before and day of her wedding.  Even all the little "hopefully you won't need this.... but just in case" items all together in one place so she isn't having to take time to hunt for stuff and pack it all up.  Just grab the bucket and go.

*Wet wipes
*Anti puff eye mask
*Hair spray
*Deoderant
*Brush and comb
*Q Tips
*Sleeping pills
*Lint roller
*Manicure set
*Sewing kit
*First aid kit
*Facial massaging brush
*Loofah
*Thick hand cream
* A hand embroidered handkerchief
* Non slip pads for the bottoms of shoes
*Gel insoles
*Mouthwash
*Tic Tacs
*Tums
*Advil
*Chapstick
*Crackers (For when you know you need to eat but you're to nervous for a full meal)
*Tumbler cup
*Orange juice and mini vanilla vodkas- I had vanilla vodka and orange juice the morning of my wedding so I wanted t give them same to her
* Little zipper bags to put things in

The great part is that it's not just for the bride....it's for anyone in the bridal party.  Say the bride never needs the lint roller it but suddenly one of the groomsmen is hit with a lint emergency.  Never fear....just have someone run that lint roller over to the grooms suite and the crisis is averted.  Or if a bridesmaid has a hem coming undone....mini sewing kit to the rescue! The goal of the bucket is to make the day run smoother for everyone.

Since I love a theme I tried to buy things in the wedding colors whenever possible....but grey and yellow proved to be much harder than I thought it would be.  The purple and yellow basket was pretty easy.  I couldn't even find the same yellow basket I had used before so I ended up just buying a yellow Easter bucket and glued on some grey chip board letters I had and called it the Bridal Bucket

Here's the beautiful bride with her loot

I hope it comes in handy.  At least I know the booze will be put to use ;)

MoMo Monday- MoMo's Breaking My Heart

Does anybody else out there have serious separation anxiety about leaving their pet everyday?

Mo really knows how to lay it on thick.  She follows us around from room to room as we're getting ready perching herself as she looks up at us with those sad and confused eyes.  I mean come on....look at that face!  It's so sad and pathetic you can't help but feel terrible.  And that's just the regular day to day guilt....she about killed me the other day when she took it to a whole new level.

The Boy and I were leaving for work at the same time...a VERY rare occurrence in our household.  We both gave her a pat and kiss on the head and told her to have a good day and be a good girl....you know....the normal everyday going out the door routine.

Once I actually got to my car though I realized I had forgotten my lunch and The Boy figured if I was going back in already that he would grab some headphones too.  With him a few steps behind me I unlocked the door and started to walk in.  All I could say was "Ooooooh, ooooooh!!"  "What What?" The Boy said because he thought something serious was wrong....and then he walked in and saw what I saw.

Our cute little baby sat there staring at the front door just a few steps away.  It broke my little heart.  Just minutes before when we left she was in the kitchen.  That means she walked all the way over to just to sit and stare at the door sadly wondering when we would come back.  Breaks my freakin heart just thinking about it!  I wonder how often she does it and how many hours a day she spends waiting for us to walk in (that is between naps of course.)

I felt even worse because she looked so excited to see us again....like she really thought those 2 minutes of us going to our cars was it for the day and we were back to spend the rest of our day cuddled up to her on the couch.  I kissed her about 30 more times before I finally had to leave again

Lord help me when we have human children.  I just can't take it!  I need to quit my job and become a stay at home cat mom.  This leaving her nonsense isn't working for me anymore
